I guess for some it might be fine to watch. But I always thought that an execution should only be viewed by prison officials, a member of clergy, a doctor, members of the Press, and any victim's family member who requests to be there. I'm not sure why President Trump would make this a "sporting event". But hey, for some, they'll enjoy it.

Spoken like a member of law enforcement!

Now let's see why Trump wants to make this a 'sporting event':

Continue to make the "claims" of being the law enforcement POTUS!   ngc3 ngc3

Meanwhile, Trump and the "clan" 'conveniently overlooked' what ICE did to many people!  2 deaths in Minnesota as well as harassment of innocent people!  Hypocrisy--- at its very best!

Trump keeps his name in the 'spotlight' making himself more important than the issues at hand concerning this!

The "sporting event" shows how 'sick' and "demented" Trump actually is and getting worse as time marches on!
Normal people don't behave this way!

There are many more reasons!  Please feel free to add on here!
Horseplop isn’t a popularity contest!!

… Public executions are not a medieval and cruel. They are what a society does when it still believes some crimes are evil enough to deserve death, and that the public has a right to see justice done instead of being handed a press release 25 years after the crime was committed.
… We already know this works in principle, because we used to do it. It continued until the mid 1930s. The Bible did not treat capital punishment as a private administrative duty. Stoning happened at the gate, in front of the people, with the witnesses throwing the first stone, specifically so that “all Israel shall hear and fear.”
… The point was not spectacle, as many are suggesting. The point was not entertainment or pleasure. The point was that murder, and the other crimes that destroy a community, would not be processed in a windowless room and then forgotten by lunch.
… We replaced that with a system in which the worst offenders disappear into a bureaucracy, appeals drag on for decades, and the only people who ever actually witness the consequence are lawyers.
… Everyone else is told that caring about the victim’s family, or wanting the punishment to be visible, is bloodlust. Of course, that’s nonsense. It is actually the normal human insistence that evil not be tolerated, managed, and hidden.

… A hidden execution teaches nothing. A public execution teaches that we have a line, that crossing it has a cost, and that the community, not a government committee, is the one enforcing it
… If that makes you uncomfortable, good.
… The alternative is a culture that flinches at the punishment and shrugs at the crime. We have already tried that. It has not produced less violence. It has produced more violence and less justice.
… there is a learning curve to this thing called ‘civilization’ … some of it is not very pleasant  …

… perhaps it will be realized that a Biblical response is just exactly what God desires most all of the time

Believe it or not, a long time ago the State of Delaware had the Whipping Post as an option for someone to be executed.

  • JT: Not what I said at all ngc3 I said that 4 starts in 4 weeks or 5 in 6 weeks is tough on any 2 year old regardless the level of competition

  • darnoldrocks: 2 year olds don't need rest ???  I disagree.
  • JT: Well, any 2 year old that is tough, level is really irrelevant
    Today at 07:25:49 PM
  • darnoldrocks: Between the 11th and 26th.   DAJC racing 4 weeks in a row is tough at this level.
  • JT: I gotcha  tmbz.. he is a nice colt, but that was a fast mile with fast fractions
    Today at 07:24:14 PM
  • JT: He's raced 5 of the last 6 weeks? What rest are you speaking of?
  • darnoldrocks: I like his 2 week rest between the 11th and 26th.   Races 3 weeks in a row vs DAJC going 4 weeks in a row.

  • JT: He is a nice colt, but what rest. He raced 8 days ago
