Why would a track not offer free programs online?
« on: August 21, 2024, 07:24:33 PM »
Trying to figure what's the upside of not making race programs available for free on a track's website? 75% or better now involve online betters why not cater to their needs? I'm sure theirs a reason I just cant find it.

It is not free for the track. The USTA charges the track if they post PP's. The USTA claims that they own the information. I remember years ago, Pompano would post their PP's and the USTA stopped them unless they paid the piper.

regardless it seems penny wise and pound foolish
i assume free programs would encourage more betting
there are many examples of harness racing shooting itself in the foot

FYI,

cloverleafsoa.org
Cloverleaf Standardbred Owners' Association Inc [Rosecroft Raceway/Ocean Downs

Plainridge Park has them on their website.

I'm pretty sure it is a track by track too.

The same is true for the horsemen's associations.

You just have to search it out.

And how would a better know that if there's no link posted on Ocean Downs website?

The average bettor won't know!

I found out because I checked it out and am in the business.

Sorry, Ocean Downs and Rosecroft Raceway have this on their respective websites!

FYI, there are industry links on the Rosecroft Raceway website!

I found it! Buried on the Cloverleaf link!
Thank you.

Now only problem is it has not been updated since 8/15. So, no pages for tonight and tomorrow.
But that's Cloverleaf doing things half azz!

This is old but it shows how pathetic the USTA is about giving away its PP's. They always have their hand out.

The USTA needs the revenue:

Scroll to page 9 about 2/3 down the page.

When GARY SEIDEL said one saturday that he was a member of the USTA I WENT INTO SHOCK as how can someone who is as dumb as that be head of anything,,,,,,He seems like he is a ok guy but he turned his show into a joke and he promoted the game like dont bet more than 6 dollars to a win 4 and be happy getting back 10 and do you think he knows that people will bet if they get a free program,,,,,,,, I really believe that he thinks everyone who plays knows that they will lose and the game is a game of total luck and i think guys like him believe the BURKE type trainers are hay and oats,,,,,, THE USTA IS one place i made around 20 calls to over the years and always came away in shock,,,,,,,

The salaries of the top people at the USTA are out of line for a nonprofit of their size and there benefit are also higher than they should be.

Can you post the source of this information. I don't know where to look for information about nonprofits in Canada.

WEG is much larger that the USTA. Salaries of top executives usually relate to size. The CEO of a $10 million nonprofit would be expected to be around $150,000.
