A guy at Pocono that makes mistakes.  Where have I heard that before? I hope it's not our favorite Pocono handicapper with a new job there.   Even if it isn't it seems like they don't have a very high standard in hiring practices.

So if this is the case (and you're right - this happens) why was the horse scratched as a non-starter? A horse that gallops behind the gate isn't declared a non-starter, unless he's lengths off the gate, which he was not. And why was the pacer in later scratched? Judges - Travel. As in, he traveled into the wrong race

I’ve know Erv for years personally I have nothing bad to say about him.  I was told by a very reliable source this did happen.  Now how the tatoo/chip identifier missed this or the groom didn’t realize the difference between the two horse completely blows my mind.  Both should lose their jobs

Erv have people at the track who do the paddocks.   People who do 10 paddocks or more on a race card.   They are responsible for mixing horses up.  They put horses in wrong race and stall.  I’m surprised it doesn’t happen more often at pocono    Shame on them

Saw this recently while sitting with the owner. Said; would you contemplate trying on both. The age old record was reset not too awful many years ago.

I had a trotter win a race at Yonkers. In the photo, you can clearly see he was pacing. Not a word was said.

In todays fines and suspension report the identifier and Erv each got fined.  I would have fined the driver also.

Correct. How is the driver not fined? Pennsylvania Racing is run by idiots.

Was the horse programed to be in another race that day.  If so the fault goes to groom, identifier, driver, even the starter.
If not and the horse was entered in the wrong race it goes to trainer, race secretary, program proof reader and then down the line. 
Everyone assumes the authority above them is doing their job. 

I once raced a horse several times at the fairs.  There was one that beat me every race.  One day a guy told me the horse was not eligible to the fairs.  He was right. The trainer was a big time fair participant and the first fair entry was not checked. After that every race secretary assumed the horse was eligible.

1 of Doug Hamilton's old owners came to the course today telling me Erv switched horses in Pennsylvania trying to fool everyone in a race? Can this even happen there?
1 of the drivers for Dave Jaabay said it was true and Erv got caught red handed but if course blamed it all on the groom loading the wrong horse in the trailer yet nobody caught it?
Keep hiring Erv to train and he's either incompetent or hires idiots.
If someone has the ruling from the stewards put it up please.
