it will help bettors by stop being the victims of the round downhorses that were paying $3.99 were paying $3.90 and now they get $3.99...in states where they didnt have "dime " breakage-those bettors were receiving $3.80 instead of the calculated $3.99if you think this is insignificant--racetracks across the US tracks averaged over $44 million in round-down profits every yearif you are a horseman/owner-this wont help you--it is for the bettors
It's most beneficial to large win, place and show bettors, but not for people who play exotics.
That seems like a big number. Where did the $44m number come from?
if they advertise 17 percent take it should be illegal to take anything above that amount and this is real bad for win place show chalk bettors.
When simulcasting first began the programs you purchased at the OTB's used to list the takeout rate for most tracks. Nowadays, it's almost impossible to find the rates other than when they mention the rate on a Pick 4 or Pick 5. Most people have no idea what the takeout rates are and don't care. In PA, the takeout rates on trifectas and superfectas are between 30 & 35% which is outrageous.
I'm talking about the harness tracks, unless they lowered them too. It doesn't matter to me because I never play them anyway.
