Question for you veteran NYRA horseplayers
« on: June 09, 2025, 04:13:43 PM »
Does anyone remember a parlay bet that NYRA offered, probably in the 80s, where you could link two or more win, or WP, or WPS bets? If several of your selections clicked, a small investment could garner a healthy return! Thanks in advance.

yes I recall --but you had to be on site at the track if I am not mistaken

I recall it in the 90s--they also gave you the breakage on your parlay

I recall sitting in the Yonkers clubhouse watching the NYRA simulcast, and being able to bet it there. Thanks for replying.

A Google search on the NYRA.com website leads you to an excellent section on Parlay betting. At least through 2018, it was offered on select thoroughbred tracks ( but apparently not NY in 2018;only Gulfstream, Santa Anita, and Delmar). Interesting how bets can be broken up. Up to 6 races can be selected, but they don’t need to be consecutive.

I used to wager on the parlay at AQU in the 80's back when Chris Antley was riding , they had the
parlay sheets/cards to fill out in holders around the track along with the pick 6 sheets/cards.

Back in the day the NY OTB’s had the bet on the sheets that you handed to the teller.
It was a great bet since it locked you in because sometimes if you had a big bet towards the end you might chicken out and not bet the large amount
