Who will make up for the rich topsoil the industry provides with all its manure, sawdust and dead horses???
Its not gonna die dont worry! I've been hearing that nonsense for 35 years!
35 years? Look back at what it was 35 years ago. So, maybe death is premature but stage 4 cancer is more accurate.
Explain what the industry looks like when the states have a budget crisis and have a choice between raising taxes or diverting the handouts to racing.https://media1.tenor.com/m/x4_pBdCKO8EAAAAC/head-in-the-sand.gif
That aint happening
Instead of funding wealthy horse hobbyists, we should be putting the hundreds of millions in annual subsidies toward Pennsylvania students. It’s time to start putting the education of children over the hobbies of billionaires.
“Over the last 10 years, racing days have declined a lot in Pennsylvania, the number of breeding horses born or the number of race horses born in the state declined, so the activity in the industry has declined substantially despite the huge subsidies,” Hooke said. “On the surface, it doesn't look like it makes any sense.”
Keep your head buried in the sand. PA has tried several times. Soon as the state needs money they will raid the fund. How many votes would a politician lose compared to how many they lose by raising taxes. the general public aka voters could care less about harness racing.https://edvoterspa.org/race-horse-development-fund/
Yeah, I disagree Kenny it aint happening
Eight out of ten Pennsylvanians favor ending horse racing subsidies, large majority supports redirecting funds to college scholarships
They've been threatening to do that for several years which the horsemen strongly oppose, but eventually it's probably go to happen, or at least reduced.
