LET US GRADE TRACKS
« on: September 27, 2024, 06:10:56 PM »
Cal expo,,, HUGE Guaranteed pick fours that is great for the player plus a great pre game show but tack has very small field and needs to run less races and full field but track produces many CARRYOVERS and that to me is great for racing and i am sure this track is run by gambling people as it is run well track gets an A ,,,,,,,,,,,,,                   THE BIG M This track was the greatist track ever at one time and produced exciting racing and to me it seemed like Gambling people were involved in making the right moves but no Casino has really hurt this track as racetracks that do not care about betting dollars now get top horses and most in the business are ok with this but if M1 ever could figure it out and bring back a racing surface that produces movement and constant flow racing could be great again but they are not on a fair playing field and all around this track is run very well this track gets a B-  ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,last of the well run racetracks The red mile ,,,,,,This track has a fair guaranteed pick four pool with the lowest takeout in the country and a good racing surface and a great pre game show with an announcer just like CAL X THAT promotes racing with solid advice and keeps it honest but the fields are way to small and for that reason i am giving it a B,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Forgot to say that this is the only other track in the country that i believe that the decision makers are gamblers,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,All ontario racetracks get the F  from me as no racetrack has movement or a pregame show that is not crap and all moves are made by people with no understanding of the gambler and those are my grades,,,,,,,,,,,,

I would have to only give The Meadowlands a C.. it's just not like it was 20 or 30 years ago when I was in my twenties. To many amateur races and lower level claimers. They don't even have an invitational on Saturday night anymore. I'm in the minority and will probably get killed but I like the racing on a 1/2 and 5/8th track. I like Monti more than Saratoga.. no particular reason. Northfield is a solid B for me. I'm biased but Scioto in the summer and Miami Valley in the winter are good.. B+ Above average driving colony which will improve even more when Miller comes home, good racing and lots of medium shots winning. Not 2/5 all the time. Like I said I'll probably get killed but it's what I grew up on. I used to like Pocono when they raced exclusively at night.. but with Allard driving there on a regular basis,it's unbettable to me. Hoosier is a D-... below average driving colony and follow the leader holes given etc..I think the only reason they get the breeders crown so often is because it's a 7/8. Mohawk C-. Slightly better than Hoosier due to better driving colony and better horses.

I grew up with the smaller tracks too like Brandywine Raceway which used to be a 1/2 mile before converting to a 5/8 and Liberty Bell. I also spent many nights at Dover Downs. As for Simon Allard, he really doesn't get that many drives at Pocono and does most of his driving at Chester. I've also went to Harrington Raceway and Georgetown in lower Delaware many times, both are 1/2-mile tracks. Georgetown closed a long time ago, but back then all the races had $500 purses regardless of the class and drivers would whip their horses just to keep a hole closed.

As for Simon Allard, he has only 391 drives so far this meet at Pocono with 38 wins. The top drivers have between 1000 and 1100 drives.

That's 391 to many.. do you know how many in Philly compared to the top drivers?

I like Simon Allard, he's very aggressive and in my opinion always tries. He has 569 drives with 89 wins. Tetrick has 531 drives, Nap has 545. David Miller has 440. Troy Beyer has the most drives at 619.

Nancy Takter had 2 trotters in at Harrah's Philly yesterday and her father Jimmy drove them. He is totally incompetent and got outdriven in the stretch on a 1-5 trotter by 75-year-old Jackie Ingrassia. The other one was Walla who was co-favorite and got away 7th from the rail and ran 4th.

Moe do you not find the announcers tidbits to be helpful at times like qualifiers that i cant see,,,,,,,,and unlike the HOOSIER announcer  saying that on paper it looks like a good qualifier with a good time,,,,,,

Are we grading these tracks on physical appearance/purse money offered, or from a betting/gambling perspective?
