PETA should be looking into Jen Bongiorno barn instead of California trainers. She had the MOST equine fatalities in 2019 of any trainer in either breed. Glad the commissions are looking into all this. Can’t solely blame her though because she’s never at the barn. She is making Jerry Hollendoffer look like a saint with his 4 breakdowns. And yet you have idiots like Gurfein who believe EPO is only being used by a few and that the real culprit is Baking Soda. Trust me, I know the effects of Baking Soda better than most and it was widely and successfully used 10-20 years ago but using it now is like taking a knife to a gun fight. These horses are on extreme blood builders like EPO and beyond and anyone who says differently is either stupid or lying.
Cobalt slows down the thyroid gland from producing enough thyroxine. That is why trainers use drugs like snthroid and levothyroxine when using cobalt. The problem is if you don't continually monitor blood levels of T3 and T4 you may end up with too much thyroxine in their system and usually the first thing to blow is the heart.
