i think there will be some mitigating circumstances that arise soon
Of course.   Have you ever heard a trainer say “damn, you guys caught me”?

It's a trace element. A horse would probably have to eat like 20 pounds of hay to raise its cobalt levels.

I'm talking about feed, not hay, ...

Not 'naturally', it's listed as a ingredient on the bag, that means it was put in the feed mixture manualy,   and who gets to dictate what a horses 'threshold' is?  They are all different,  one can be dehydrated , and another not,  everything in the 'feed' can effect each horse differently.

Dan is one of the poster boys in Ohio.

WAIT A MINUTE !!!
This guy has been in the business for 40 years.  He's a well respected horseman, as some of you point out.  Slow down the accusations  -  if he decided to go to the dark side - he'd be light years ahead of these half-ass cheaters.   All of us know that these unscrupulous trainers that trampoline a horse after a week are the real scoundrels. So, knock it off !

He maybe one of the good guys but the commission came up with a threshold that's far enough from the environment numbers to not be a contaminate. So that it came in over..it is a over. Why doesn't the horse have to sit three weeks like other places and then test clean before next start? This was a 2 yr old trot filly that's in to go tomorrow for 275k. So do the other owners in that race have a beef?

Stop sniffing glue already you incompetent fucktard. He uses it. Why he got a positive. 2 years ago he was claiming horses left and right and launching them with concrete hands driving them. Ya good horseman my balls. What's good for the goose.....

There's no reason to have cobalt supplemented in a diet unless the horse is B12 deficient so why is it even in the feed at all?

I totally agree, and if it's so bad for them then why manufacturers put it in their food?
