Then get the hell out. Typical whoresmen, receives welfare and whines like a bitch if they have to actually PAY for a service. Has it ever occurred to the whoresmen why NOBODY GIVES A DAMN about your bitching. Most of the whoresmen should be living in a cardboard box. "without owners you have nothing"??? Are you F'ing serious? The tracks, and the AMERICAN PEOPLE couldn't care less about the God Damn owners! You get welfare and then you bitch??? You ungrateful son of a bitch.

     Sincerely, Silent One

For someone with your avatar-you certainly do a lot of complaining yourself.

Why are you on this forum?--shouldn't your talents be better appreciated on some other hate forum.? Directed elsewhere?

All you do is criticize-you obviously hate the game and the people in it.

There have/are many generous wonderful horsemen around-there are bad apples in every sport-so nothing new.

You are the first to complain about bitching--but thats all you do--whine like a little bitch.

Bond makes good points as I am just stating facts based on the economics of the game......It cost much less like 80% less to run a harness meet because you dont have excessive labor costs ...over tbreds ...the problem is nobody is on same page and there is no unity which will be the demise of the sport if it continues

As the Senator from your neighboring state of Vermont once said, "all politics are local". Every track and the horsemen at that track are only focused on their needs. As they should. This dream of a united racing comunity is a fool's dream. Never did it happen when the industry was large enough to benefit from that type of structure. Now, with no leader and all underperforming and disinterested track owners as well as state governments, it will never happen.
Horsemen and owners are always claiming how they are the power of this sport. Without owners, there is no business... Horsemen, the same. Truth is, without a solid political commitment and a state that recognizes the public benefit of horseracing, you will have nothing more than expensive 1,000 pound pets.

Have you seen the news about dog racing in Florida? A state vote to ban dog racing will now be on the November ballot. Dog racing was once the draw and core many Florida cities. It drew the Snowbirds every winter and made significant contributions to state and local government's coffers.  Now, with no political backing and less government support, dog racing will more than likely be history in The Sunshine State.

Why should the stalls and the use of everything be free ?  They got all of that free for years , now the purses are better so there should be no complaining about stall rent . Go see if Mark Ford will let you board af his facility for free , and  use the track , and use the water .

"Truth is, without a solid political commitment and a state that recognizes the public benefit of horseracing, you will have nothing more than expensive 1,000 pound pets."

tmbz1 Very true--however the politics in horse racing have largely forgotten the real supporter of horse racing-the gambler.

The State and the Racino owners now all benefit much more from the casino than they do from racing-and have placed the infrastructure so that racing has become a gapped out second.

Administrators and Judges are not held to highest standards to protect the betting public and owners not forced to
keep racing at a level where it at least is attractive to bettors. The opposite is happening--most efforts by the politicians and owners of Casinos-is to eliminate/reduce racing and  concentrate on fleecing Casino patrons.

Ive said it many times--just look at Hong Kong and Down Under models--to see how horse racing should be run profitably--the powers that be here just find it much easier to switch on the electricity and rip off mostly retirees and welfare recipients of their monies.

Nothing should be free. That being said,I use to think that to make money you shouldn't own anything cheaper than a 10 claimer.Maybe if your doing the training yourself. Now looks like you need a 30.

..."however the politics in horse racing have largely forgotten the real supporter of horse racing-the gambler." I see your point, Bond but, have they really forgotten the gambler? In most cases, the take-out is lower than it was in racings productive days. I don't think the state gives a hoot or two how the revenue is generated, as long as it keeps flowing. So, technology makes other forms of gaming much more productive and popular. Horse racing would still get the backing from the state if it produced a solid return.
