Should a Trifecta EVER Pay Less Than the Exacta?
« on: March 17, 2024, 04:00:38 PM »
Even if the 3rd place finisher was the 9-2 third choice?  This is what happened at Saratoga last Sunday (see chart below).  I know the pools are small, separate and the numbers may matter (in this case 4-3-2) but still... The $2 Exact paid $286.50 and the $2 Trifecta paid $269.  I could see this happening legitimately if the even money #1 horse was third due to Trifecta boxes but not with the 3rd choice.  I can hear the excuse now, the Exacta just paid extremely well.  What do you think?

That is an investigation needing to happen.  Full field, 1st, 2nd and 4th choice out.  Looks like 2 and 4 were the locks.  Maybe they drugged up the 1 to falter.  I watched the replay just now, Nice catch Babinga!  tmbz1

There was approx $ 53 total bet on the winning combo out of $ 9542 pool at 25% takeout. Nothing to see here, especially with the finishers coming from the 2,3 and 4 holes on a 1/2 mile track. Exacta paid real well and would normally be 150-175.

Then it is nothing to see the betting patterns if the 1 was omitted and 2,4 say were wheeled for 1,2 1,3, and 2,3 positions.  The disproportional payout takes a minute for the NYS Commish to review, it's their  fucking job.

You also make a good point with the inside posts too, could be 1,2,3,4 boxes and a lucky hit with fav out.  tmbz1

Just shy of 50% of the favorites win at the Spa and the rail horse hits the board 50% of the time.

See it too often at Western Fair, I can see it when it’s flash betting off the wings, only two leaving…

The Open window in Lexington is becoming a bigger unsolved mystery than D.B.Cooper and the Ramsey girl! This is leading me to believe that Sasquatch has a gambling problem! ngc3

No mystery here--well known fact

these gatepunchers have sacrificed a chunk of their rebate to be allowed to bet after they see who blasted/who broke/what the lineup, etc

My question about the rumor of late punchers   Is how they get away with it. The last investigation I saw about short payouts had the exact time of the ticket purchase down to the second. The place taking the bets usually has no way to control when the pools are locked

, I was at the Borgata recently one nite and watched some get bet $100 tri boxes on Cal Expo.  He had no program and was just betting numbers   Weird payoffs might just be some idiot in Vegas with too much money to lose.
