An explosive scoop from the UK Independent reveals that sources in Washington and the British government expect Trump's secretary of state to resign as he prepares for a 2028 presidential showdown with Vice President JD Vance.
One top official offered a particularly damning explanation for Rubio's potential departure: He needs to “distance himself from the Iran war and pin that one on Trump.”
Another Republican source also predicted that Rubio will be gone soon, along with several other administration officials.
“There will be about four or five of them running for the hills ...The country has completely turned against Trump."
Rubio's departure would be a stunning reversal for the former Trump rival, whom Trump once mocked as “Liddle Marco” before elevating him to both secretary of state and national security adviser despite continuing to humiliate him in public.
Insiders told the British paper that Rubio is already ahead of Vance in the race for the 2028 Republican nomination, but warned that remaining tied to Trump's administration could destroy his prospects.
