DO TRACKS WANT MORE OF THEIR HANDLE TO BE CAW BETS OR LESS?

Is it worth it for the CAWS to bet 'big money' into the Meadowlands? 

Are the pools larger at the Big M?  Yes.  However you are not betting into pools like Saratoga Tbreds where CAW bets would be less noticeable.  Is it worth 'stepping on' your own money to get lower mutuels if you win?  How much are the rebates attached to this?  Do the rebates make up for the losses/add to the profits?

they know exactly how much to bet as to not step on their own money

they account for half the over all handle and they bet after all other bets are in

they receive over 50% of the takeout the track holds--on win bets they get back 10% or more--the higher the takeout the larger the rebate they get

their goal is to break even or lose a small % and the rebate is the cream/profit... and they make tens of millions every year

they certainly do not care about the regular bettor

they have chosen the short term view--allow the CAW handle and screw over the retail handle

considering they give such a large rebate to the CAWs-they make between 1 and 2 cents per dollar on that handle

ironically these CAWs are owned by the same people who own the tote companies-so its obvious they work together and have a lawsuit filed against them

people see a M1 handle of $3 mil and think "wow, look at that, I can bet into that"--then in fact their money gets run over by CAW handle after the bell---so they are getting screwed

yet most still don't get it and actually believe that handle is good for them

 state of NY hands out welfare for all 7 harness tracks and 3 tbred tracks for purses like most states

NYRA also owns NYRAbets  which is an ADW

and sure they make money by owning 20% of Elite

I am not a big t-bred person.  NYRA has a lot of money.  This is why the purses for the meet are very high.  How else does NYRA make money to run their operations?
