Yes weak maternal line on Beau Jangles....

Dam was at best a mediocre race horse

Raced 35 starts over 4 years....

Made $35,000

Rich N Elegant only won five races, had a mark of 1:56:4 and sold to Hanover for $12,000.

Captains Quarters Family

1. Precious Beauty (The Foundation Dam)
If you are looking at the legendary mother of the family, Precious Beauty (by Jate Lobell) produced 12 to 14 foals, virtually all of whom turned out to be exceptional earners. Her standout progeny include:

Sportswriter ($1,566,460) – World champion, Dan Patch & O'Brien Award winner, and winner of the North America Cup.

Precocious Beauty ($838,004) – Dan Patch & O'Brien Award-winning 2-year-old pacing filly of the Year (who later became the dam of mega-star pacing stallion Tall Dark Stranger [$2,020,195]).

Prescient Beauty (her daughter)

2. Prescient Beauty (The Daughter & Broodmare)
Prescient Beauty (p, 2, 1:50.4, $464,250) was a high-class racehorse herself—winning major stakes like the Three Diamonds at age 2. As she transitioned into a broodmare career, she has produced multiple registered foals, including:

Captain's Quarters – A standout stakes-level performer (including winning the Metro Pace) sired by Captaintreacherou s...earning $1 Million(CA) in limited starts.

Readyforprimetime – A high-profile yearling colt (by Bettor's Delight) that commanded $500,000 at the Lexington Selected Sale.

Comparing the  weak maternal line of Beau Jangles to the

 above would be insanity.

NIjinsky also had super maternal line....

The dam of the Standardbred pacer Nijinsky is Pirouette Hanover (sired by Western Ideal).  Dam: Pirouette Hanover......Foal s produced:

She has produced numerous foals (with records indicating multiple previous foals, including at least 9 to 13 living foals and multiple winners such as Pedro Hanover, Paparazzi Hanover, and Nijinsky himself)

If you go back far enough on many horses you will find

one really good mare way back...

That doesnot, in my opinion classify as a great

maternal line..

When you look at Captains Quarters..the names in the

family are off the charts...

Tall Dark Stranger, Sportswriter, Prescient Beauty,

Downbytheseaside, Swingtown....the list goes on and on.

Family winnings are approaching $15 Million usd!!!

Very Rare to see this.

compared to the maternal line and family of Beau Jangles...

well....there is no comparison......l ogically.

What % decrease in stud value do you suggest if he was syndicated last year until waiting until this year? 50%? Which 3 year old pacer would you breed to next year for free if given the chance?

To answer your first question.....it would be massive! With the numbers that were being thrown around last year (no, not the nonsense/BS here, but at the sales, by some of the big farms who were courting the connections of BJ), it would have been a debacle of a deal. If BJ was syndicated last year, it wouldn't be the first time a bust happened. It's happened before. No one was a bigger fan of BJ than me. I thought he had the potential to be truly a great horse-----one that could, potentially, go down as one of the great ones-----but I wasn't making that a fait accompli. Unfortunately, this year the horse simply didn't come back as expected, hoped, etc., he got sick, the rest of the class caught up to him, he didn't keep progressing, and so on. As far as your second question.....zero . I am not impressed anywhere near enough with any 3yo this year to breed a mare to next year. I don't see any real, legitimate, major stallions out there in this year's crop.
