Do they really have to.
« on: August 05, 2026, 11:28:56 AM »
I don't watch many races anymore, mostly because I lost interest in the sport.
But I love that time of the year when the Hambo is being contested. So I watched with much interest Saturday's eliminations.

It was good racing BUT WHY DO THE DRIVERS HAVE TO TALK TO EACH OTHER DURING WARM UP. And it went on all night.
The optics on that from a spectator's  point of view are awful.
So you have to ask yourself,  if they can't stop drivers from chatting before a race then what else can they NOT stop.

Supposed to be a fine but only happens when the judges are in a mood or have a grudge with someone.

Competitors talk to each other all the time during competition. So pre-game and in-game talk by players should be seen as colluding on the outcome? Drivers see each other all the time and the discussion is more likely about a kids sporting event than whether they plan to leave the gate or not.

I agree, not a good look for casual observer especially. I also agree that in reality besides that,
probably harmless. Let's face it, if they were conspiring with something nefarious, they could
and would have discussed it prior to entering the track. Valid point though clearmind. Unnesessary. tmbz1

Hot summer night at Sportsman's Park.
Busse to any driver near him.
" Check out the big tits hanging over the fence down by the wire"!

Me to Ronny Marsh.
Rosie has your colors on tonight. You better win for her"!

Stanley Banks to me as we are going to the starting gate.
"You training anything out of that good roan mare"?
I am just an old horse trainer still going around in circles. Sometimes Fast. Sometimes Half-Fast.

Imagine if they fined pro golfers that talked to each other while waiting on a tee for the group in front to clear or while walking down the fairway on their way to their next shot. If it is a rule to not talk it's a crazy one.

I used to keep to myself during warm up. Besides there's plenty of talking during the race!

apples and oranges
Its a given the golfers are competing to win
Can harness racing make that claim?
when fans see what they perceive as a driver holding a horse back , harness racing needs the best optics possible

maybe they should wire everyone up and let us listen and see if things are on the up and up or not!
