He's not as bad as John Horne at Vernon but bad nonetheless. Half the time he can't remember the horse's name and calls the driver's first name instead.
For the most part, track announcers seem to have lifetime jobs unless they quit or retire no matter how bad they get.
I think you are right. My personal favorite was Jack E. Lee when he called the races at Roosevelt Raceway in the early 80's.
