At least they made the decision well in advance on Sunday the 28th.


"Due to the forecasted heat advisory this week the Meadowlands Racetrack has modified its racing schedule.

Live racing is cancelled for Thursday, July 2, this race date will be re-scheduled for Thursday, July 9th.

Post time for Friday, July 3 will be pushed back to 7pm, when the forecasted temperatures will drop below the 105 degree heat index, making it safe to race. Twelve races will be carded for that night.

Saturday, July 4 will have a special early post time of 6pm. The live race card features two Graduate Finals, Meadowlands Pace eliminations (if needed), Perfect Sting, Dave Brower Memorial, Six Pack and the JL Cruze.

Following the races, at approximately 10:35 pm, there will be a free fireworks show to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary."
