A prime example of this just occurred this past Saturday at the Meadowlands. The great trotter YO Tillie and the nice pacer Fallout, each drew post 10 and had NO shot to compete 20 yards after the race started. The owners put up nominating and sustaining fees then $3000 and $4600 entry fees respectively to start in the race, in addition to being shipped to the racetrack. They lost the moment the post positions were drawn and this should change with reduced fields for paid in stakes races, not overnight races, ESPECIALLY for 2 year old stakes races with them being quite immature mentally and physically to begin with.  Instead of 3 EIGHT horse fields on a 1/2 or 5/8 track, there should 4 SIX horse fields which is much more fair than what is going on for years.

Unfortunately, the Meadowlands allows [multiple] trailers in its big races!  Certain tracks allow trailers in stakes races.  Certain tracks/programs don't.  You're told ahead of time in the conditions of the race.

No trailers would be a good beginning in any stakes races regardless of purse.  The luck of the draw is tough enough if you draw outside (especially on a small track) with a trailer, it's even more of an uphill battle.
Great Idea to prohibit the trailers in Stake races IMO!

Yo Tillie drew post 10 AGAIN this Saturday in another stakes race! This is not fair at all and another system MUST be enacted to level the playing field.

Hasn't been a problem in the past but now it's a problem ?  Meadowlands going with 13 in a race Saturday night which is common in Europe.

They’d rather have 1 big race with more betting dollars than 2 smaller races which would be more predictable

Look at the cards at Delaware jug week
They have/had 10 horse fields on a 1/2 Mike track!
Yikes!  A lot safer with 13 on a big track.
