Joe is a very talented driver. His stats speak for themselves. I would use him over many if not all of the so called top guys, always tries to give his drives a chance. Aggressive, yea, isn’t this horse racing?
Barn does well also. How could he have so many head in his care year after year unless his efforts are paying dividends.
What’s with those that want to see this young man fail so bad?
I don’t get it.  Give him a brake..

Judge Joe on his and only his performance and worthiness as a human being. He’s not his father nor should he be judged by his father’s reputation. Same with sister, I’m sure she did most of the bookkeeping, entering of stock etc. why does she have to be in the sulky everyday? 99% of flats trainers wouldn’t know how to sit on a horse no less ride one.
As far as father in the paddock, would any of you tell your dads that they are not welcome to help you at or to be seen with you, give me a break pls. It’s his dad and I’m sure he never meant to hurt his family, others but not his family. Family is the reason that most men take risks or make poor decisions because we try to give our kids and wives the best life possible.
Give Joe a break, he is too often judged unfairly.
Joe if you read this forum, go get em young man. Don’t let the haters win.

To be clear here on what you want.
You are asking for joe to be judged isolated and separate from the father and to pretend that the father isn't involved with the stable when he is in your face ecery day?

Thats a big ask

The father is in the paddock, in colors, all time time with "Joe's trainees"
If joe wants ro be judged differently, maybe he should tell the dad to stay home?

It’s Joe’s name as trainer so that makes his father an employee or a someone working for the trainer right? Why is the father perceived as the guy running things as you are making it out to seem. He’s helping his kid and if he’s a partner in some way so be it. The horses are joes responsibility at the end of the day.

One thing’s for sure , you could probably fill up Madison Square Garden with all the Bongiorno hater’s.     Maybe even Giant’s Stadium

joes name is the official trainer of record. We get that. We also get the father's very long and documented issues.
What you are talking about is perception. as long as the father is publicly involved by being present with colors on in the paddock, there is no way in this lifetime you are going to get the industry to begin to separate the father and son

If his father wasn’t licensed he for sure wouldn’t be in the paddock.

You only have one father , why should Joe kick his father to the curb because a bunch of clowns on Horseplop want him to.

Because his father is a scumbag who screwed dozens of people including his kids and his daughter's boyfriend.

Going to have to side with Cashout, 2-1.  tmbz1

You can't choose your family.

A person should be respected for objectively hearing all sides and forming their own opinions and be judged on their life and efforts in their profession.

His father though is fair fucking game  ngc3

Completely agree you can't choose your family.  You can however cut ties with them if warranted.  The dad put the entire family in harm's way due to his greed.  The article said a guy tried to choke out Joey because of his dad's actions.  That should've been the last straw.

What I find interesting is he's (son) a very prolific figure in harness racing, at times controversial, very successful...the father is involved. Why?  Are there top secret happenings where you need immoral loyalists or is it, there are no behind the scene nefarious happenings and antics and he's experienced, capable and my dad.

Lastly are we deserved explanations?

We all appreciate Joe cleared the air with Mike for all of us to hear.  It went well.  I cannot see that interview getting blow back, and it garnered praise.

If we're gong to perpetually be here at a reasonable harness racing soap opera / racing stalemate...Maybe Papa Bongiorno wants to step up to the plate and clear the air is the question we should be asking?  ;D
