Going to Monticello
« on: June 05, 2025, 10:18:02 AM »
I’ve been to Monticello 100+ times, as we used to vacation in the area, however, not in last 10 years.
I wanted to go 1 last time as I have done with tracks that won’t be around too long.
Anything I need to know?
Last time I was there they had no programs available, no concessions, bathrooms not operable, etc.
The stands and many areas of the track look like it hasn’t been cleaned in many years.
Just so it’s not a wasted trip I’m going to Saratoga TBreds on a weekend, and Monticello Monday for a long weekend.

Saratoga is bad, but they do have bathrooms...Monti cello should be condemned

Prepare to be disappointed. It's sad. You'll have a great time at the Spa.

Thanks Pig  73cv.2
Last time I was there they had a room with tables and a few bet machines.
There was a metal nail coming out of table and it cut my leg. Next day I got tetanus shot. I will take your advice and get a booster

Saratoga is good as long as you find a quiet place away from amateurs and bet on your phone. If I’m going opening weekend it’s usually much quieter and less crowded.
I can’t wait until Belmont opens again next year.

If you are inside wear a hardhat. Tiles and other debris may fall from the ceiling and knock you out.

I was there a couple years ago.  Sat outside.  Was extremely disappointed.  I think there was a total of 10 people outside.  They had a little stand outside selling programs and taking wagers.  Honestly, a real dump but it was a nice scenic drive there lol.   The restrooms are a long walk from what I remember.  Have to go through the simulcast room which was where more people were hanging out.   Restrooms were clean at least.  Just won't make another trip there again.  I had drove from PA to Albany, NY and it was one stop on the trip I figured I would make.

There are much better tracks to visit imo

Old times sake best describes it.

Is that the shot where the doctor holds your bowling balls and tells you to cough?

RR70s.....I was there Monday and Tuesday. Expect small crowd, but I had some fun talking with the locals. Go have a great bagel on Main Street in town. They still make great breakfast/lunch sandwiches. Have a great meal as Casa Mia in Hurleyville. I'm at Saratoga now. Bigger crowds. Good food but to expensive. LOL!
