The barns I have been associated with release that money post stake season. In all my years I heard of one outfit--a certain trainer---that didn't forward the complete amount to the grooms. Horseplop being horseplop, I'm with the previous poster and cannot fathom Nancy doing such a thing.

Legally I think it would amount to theft if an employee or owner wanted to pursue it.

That's the way most bigger stables do it, it helps to keep the help all year. If they leave early no cash. Owners can tip all they want at race time. I never had a problem the grooms know the deal. I never stiffed a groom or 2nd trainers, I had long term employees. Successful stables don't really have a problem with employee turnover. I hope there is more to the story, has anyone on here had a conversation with one of her grooms

Another theory is that if she has lost a few owners and several horses, would Takter stable need as much help?  I still don’t believe it was due to unpaid obligations.  But a downsize may have been needed.

Harness Racer you know  what Jimmy's favorite move was back in the day, fire the groom in Lexington or wait till they got home. They never got their bonuses. Eldon Harner use to do that all the time. I don't know where the money is and who has it. I know for sure grooms left in bunches over the Christmas bonus incident.

If that’s true, it’s super shitty!  Those people were counting on that money.
