Her vet bills are equal to or more then her training bills. She lost help cause she gave them $900.00 Christmas bonuses. Diamond Creek gave the horses to Pelling,I was told he left because the ROI was close to 3% and the Karl fiasco didn't help either.

Hopefully Marcus laughed each time a horse walked out her barn

Diamond Creek has come to the conclusion any intelligent and savvy owner would: that is, Brett Pelling is twice the trainer Nancy is and by extension you're more likely to turn a profit with him instead of her. Plain and simple.

Bret's bills won't be a hell of a lot cheaper, maybe the help went with them. I'm not saying Bret isn't a great trainer, but that's no knock on Nancy, she puts in the work and has results. And I would rather have Josert drive the cheaper stuff than Jack "the ripper" Pelling, no talent bum.

Jupiter on what first hand knowledge do you base the statement that Brett's vet bills will be equal to Nancy. I'm stabled next to Brett for over a year now,I've hardly see a vet in his barn.

Yes we(trainers) do, have, and will turn down some horses and some owners. Anyway I sure as hell have.

Any famous names that we would recognize?

It has been my experience that the richer the owner, the cheaper they are. It's always the guy with average means that treats the trainer and the trainer's staff well.

100% CORRECT!

I'd love to hear some expansion on this. A solid vet relationship is both unavoidable and advantageous in owning performance horses. I'm not suggesting anything illegal or nefarious at all by this; it's just facts. A vet is a vital and healthy part of any successful operation.

He uses Steve Dye who's reputation is beyond reproach.

They left due to only getting $900 bonuses?  Sounds like more than 99% of grooms got as Christmas bonuses.

On the subject of Karl. I'm sure they tested him before announcing him going to stud or at least that's how it normally works. Maybe they didn't if so, that was a big mistake on DCF part. Big owners like to change barns if they aren't getting what they want. I have seen owners take winning horses because they wanted to race the horse over its head & the trainer said no!!

Bret is as clean as the driven snow, give me a fucking break. He's a great trainer but if you don't think he uses every means to have them ready to race. You don't know Bret. I was also stabled next to him. The Vet doesn't need to be there all the time, once a day is enough, or has he Steve quit doing his normal routine.

If I were a groom I would be pissed with 900 when she charges 3% to owners for groom bonus.  She stripped 30K from Karl alone and even if she had 30 grooms she only paid out 18K - That's total BS!

Just like most bad trainers. A little jealous  when somebody does well and you can’t. Typical low life horseman’s response!

clearly they did not test karl before announcing and finalizing stud deal
would be very rare if the horse was deemed fertile at that time and then infertile 6-8 weeks later
dont see iit
