Group of BC-entered in the Harrisburg Mixed Sale
« on: October 18, 2024, 03:51:57 AM »
Didn't check them all out yet, but found the following BC-entered horses showing up in the Black Book Mixed Sale:

Bella's Muscle Hill

Buy A Round

Captain Luke

Chaparmbro

McCrunch

Nuclear

Wild Ticket

There are probably more.  Lots of other interesting names, like $500,000 yearling Thinker Monkey etc.

Hot Mess Hanover - carrying a full sibling to Jiggy Jog will be the sales topper is my guess

There are other BC horses up.  IMO Amazing Catch may be the sales topper for racehorses.  He's the hip just  before Bella's Muscle Hill.  Ake is selling a bunch of his 2nd grade racehorses too. Maybe some good finds for someone looking for lightly raced trotters as some of his 2nd grade has horses capable of racing in Opens

Ake has incredible results but seems like a lot of his horses have issues staying sound - Special Way, Bond, Captain Corey,

Timing is everything, LOL. A lot of potential big ticket horses, LOL. If a horse shows well, they'll probably sell well.....if there's not more to the story, LOL.

Bella's Musclehill is interesting. Going on memory here, I think he was unraced at 2, now gelded and coming from Nifty, I always thought he was always a good few lengths below the best in his class; although his class is kind of average now. He seemed to be coming around and turning the corner a bit since the Hambo, and he raced like a monster in the KY Futurity. Maybe he has the potential to be any kind of horse as a 4yo and beyond, but from what I saw up until now, I still/always he was a notch below the best in class. Nifty is a sharp horseman. I don't know that Pinske (and the partner) would keep him as an aged horse, but if they thought he'd be a premier trotter, why wouldn't they? Nifty probably has the backing to get another owner(s) to buy him. Maybe he's coming into his own now. We'll see.

Steve Stewart is very sharp. He'll buy if there's real value there. I don't think he'll buy simply for emotional reasons. If he's well represented with that family, he'll be fine with what he has, LOL.

Hot Mess Hanover is selling at the peak. There could not be a better time. She's a Cantab Hall out of a Muscles Yankee mare and she has a good pedigree. Her mother was a very good filly. Brett Pelling trained her and I remember she won the KY Futurity Filly. She also won World Trotting Derby Filly, the Bluegrass (I think) and an elimination of the BC. HMH herself did pretty good too! LOL.

She's had all fillies, the stud fee paid (and NR), and expected to be in foal to Walner. Capitalism at its best! LOL.

I'll redboard this sales topper pick but 1.8 million is crazy.  Trust Luther to spend a ton of money again.

Unfortunaly he will probably race him and ruin his value like Why Not Now.  He has less then zero chance of improving or keeping him even 50 percent of what he is off Ake.

Luther said horse is staying in Ake’s barn to race his 4yo year then breeding shed.
