Don't think he was that old, should he be in the hall?  No one played harder, he should've been a harness driver would've fit right in.

When Pete Rose played for the Phillies he went to Brandywine Raceway in Wilmington, Delaware all the time.

Charlie Hustle. I remember when he mowed that catcher in all-star game. If he's not a HOF'er
then don't have one. Used to see him at Buelah park[t-breds] in Columbus growing up in 70's. RIP

If Pete was a harness driver, he probably would have bet against himself if he thought his horse couldn't win.

He may have been Charlie Hustle but knocking over a catcher in an All-Star Game was totally unnecessary, totally ruined Ray Fosse's career.

The guy played hard that should've been his legacy if you judge him by that alone he's in the top 5 all time

He played hard and was a great hitter but doesn't have the power numbers to be considered in the top 5. In fact, I think his teammate Joe Morgan was a better overall player because he hit for more power, stole bases and was an excellent defensive player.

Yes he should be in the hall of fame.. gambling was seen much  differently back then as compared to now. I think if he would not have bet on games that he managed or played in, he would have been reinstated years ago. I met him when I was a kid and he was an arrogant jerk.. but he was a hell of a  ballplayer and that is what matters when it comes to enshrinmint to Cooperstown.

I also think had he admitted he bet on baseball in the beginning, in time he might have made it into the Hall of Fame, but his arrogance and constant denials ruined his chances.

The HOF will forever be a debate, until he gets in, and yes, I think one day he will. Obviously, there is absolutely no discussion whatsoever as to the HOF based upon what he did on the field. I will leave the betting on baseball, what he did and didn't do off the field, and any of that, to everyone who wants to argue about it.

If you are a baseball fan---go to youtube and watch his interviews. I was amazed. There was one there (two parts I think) where he and Nolan Ryan were interviewed. The majority though were just him. Absolutely amazing interviews.

I do not find him likeable,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Thats just me,,,,,,, i hope no hall,,,,,,,,,,,,,The hall is a celebration of a great career and a good life and do things right and he could of admitted wrong and i would of supported him and when he said he went to some gamblers anonymous meeting and saw loosers it turned me off as he belonged,,,,,,,,,,,

My friends and I met Pete and Bench and a lot of the Cincy team in 1975 in the betting line at the Tampa dog track during spring training.
