Yeah we all have nights like that.. like Pap said the 1 Oakwood Ardan had a golden trip. He's a good horse but not quite on the level of a few of those others. I wish Drury could had gotten the 7 up over pl ozzy in the ninth race it would have made the pick 5 pay more.. I'm live to the 2-5-7-9. All decent payouts but  come on Dexter.

Good call I liked him the best as well but had to try and beat him. Dexter was just to far back.. Another Scotty Z masterclass Not a bad way to make a living.. banking 2 half million dollar races in a half hour. ;D

Highland Kismet , what an easy looking mile that was!

Saturday night observations and thoughts:

1.) Chantilly was the most electrifying performance of the night.  She probably is the best 2yo filly in North American right now, and may be the best 2yo.  Very well built for a 2yo filly.

2.) American History started the program with a jolt.  The horse gets no respect for his career and ability to be brought back into shape at a very high level year after year.  Aside from the $1.7mm on his card with 46 wins he has raced EVERY year from his two year old till now, his 9 year old year with the following times:
2017-Only 5 races as a 2 year old, but was best timed in 150.3
2018-1:47
2019-1:49.3(YR..1/2), 1:48.3WB
2020-1:47.1 with a 1:48.4WB
2021-1:47.2
2022-1:48.3WB
2023-1:48.2WB
2024-1:48.4WB (last night!)

3.) Why didn't Ake set up Jiggy Jog for $450 U.S. in the big trot??

4.) Kismet looked solid without his pants on.

5.) Linda Toscano looked great; she must have lost 150 pounts (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro??)

6.) I agree that a Breeders' Crown showdown (especially if there are eliminations, which will make the win more emphatic) amongst Karl, TCI, Kismet, Sig Sauer etc. will be exciting.  Hope they are all there and in good form.

All good observations
American History cost me the early pick5.. what's most impressive about him to me isn't the speed it's the consistency for that many years. I read an article that Ake is really spreading out Jiggy Jog's starts (think only 4 this year) because she had a few and will have some in the future against the boys. Her last start was on August 17th. Remember she was primarily bought for breeding so every start is a bonus for them

Ake is unreal with getting so much from every class horse he has with so little starts for each one. I'm expecting Tony Adams to be as good as the top ones in the late season.  If he didn't get stuck behind a breaker in last he would have won for fun.  Now Ake is getting Hail Mary a 8 year old millionaire Googoo Gaga gelding for the international and beyond.  Wonder how many starts he will end up getting in the states.  I wouldn't expect too many.  He can barely get any starts for Asteroid and he has so many Open horses as it is.

I believe they just sold Asteroid on ongait. Unless it was a buyback; I don't know who who owned him. Around $150k i think.

All true words about American History but.....

he was the beneficiary of a rare hardball play by Sylvain by parking out Roy

doesnt hit the board if Write Me a Rose is allowed to clear

we just mentioned how the Mohawk drivers are all friendly and hardball is a rarity

this was one of those rare moments

take nothing from American History--he did what he was supposed to do--capitalized on a speed duel, but no way he wins without one--and it was a vicious one indeed
