  I attended the Gold Cup & Saucer last night, first off what a great event. The best in harness racing.  Huge crowd, thousands and thousands of people in their teens, 20s and 30s which you don’t see much any more.
   Watching Jordan Stratton win it, than make his way back to the winners circle was amazing.  Stopping all they way to chat with fans, letting them pet the horse. He gave away his whip, gloves and goggles along the way. Back in the winners he gave a young fan his helmet…then afterwards he took the wheels of his bike and gave them to a young want to be driver!!!! He stuck around singing hats and programs until everyone was gone.
    If you haven’t seen it take a few minutes and watch the video. What a humble and polite young guy. Great ambassador for the sport. We need more like him in the sport. Very well done!!

Jordan seems like an A-1 dude. I suspect he appreciates the huge crowd as a token of validity toward his chosen profession. Cup and Saucer night is a truly special event that keeps me hooked on this sport - Thanks PEI for hosting- thanks as well to the many (seasoned and newly minted) race fans, who chose to make harness racing a part of their vacation!

Pocket maybe the people in PEI just cannot afford to gamble away their hard earned money. That doesn’t mean they don’t enjoy a good time and a few good harness races. You may have noticed there was a big fair going on. Perhaps whatever discretionary money they had was spent on feeding their kids and buying a few rides for them to enjoy.
