They have to want to catch him in order to actually catch him.

Exactly !!!  If they want to they would.  Just like they go to a barn on a Wednesday afternoon take blood on a horse from a trainer they want.  No.  Go to barn the morning they race and stand there so they can’t tube the horse.   Don’t go on a Wednesday afternoon.  Waste of time.  Stand in their barn Friday and Saturday morning and follow them til they get to racetrack. See how they race

Ronnie and Weaver have the secret sauce.
I agree that they have the secret sauce.  It starts with a cup of hard work, two tablespoons of imagination, a half cup of willingness to invest lots of money in stock, a syringe full of mile and a half training trips on days when everyone else decided not to train.  Three boxes of grooms many of whom have trainers licenses and a half bushel of owners who put it on the line and stay out of the way.  Success is a result of regular habit and Burkes have great habits.  Some of us are habitual bitchers who would rather talk than work! Bitching can be a regular habit too.   Just saying!

Not doubting they put in the work and invest big money, but you can’t argue they push the envelope and get their share of positives.  You also can’t agree it’s fair to change trainer in name only and never miss a day.

  • Calhoun: Thx I'm leaning to the 5 there.  Those CD/GP full field races look the best on the page. 1/2 length from being a G3 winner.
