At what point do you say: Gee I've got a speech impediment. I think I'll be an announcer? At what point does a track hire him is even more disturbing. ;D

Actually improving. Pretty soon he will be as good as the greatest of all time. Roger Huston. Look for him to be calling LBJ in a few years

I have to ask..who gives a crap who the announcers are at these mostly empty harness tracks? And at simulcast centers I can’t understand them unless I am on an individual tv set in my own booth. You could put Ed McMahon in the announcers booth nowadays and almost no one would notice.

Rosecroft and Ocean downs dont get the cream of the announcer crop.

I believe John Hernan (ex-Yonkers announcer) does Ocean Downs.

  • MTP1972: Personally I would never play a Pick 5 ticket the races look so chalky. I'm looking to beat a heavy favorite or two especially if it's in the 1st leg because so many people get knocked out.
  • MTP1972: I think they're looking for a bigger score. They could have that for a saver but think their goal is something much bigger.

  • Trigger: Makes no sense, why noy have a $100 small combo p5 on a $50 payoff?
  • MTP1972: Maybe not every combo but enough to almost guarantee they'll hit it especially if an obscure combination comes in. I doubt much of their wagers are on the chalky combinations.

  • Papillon: I struggle making show bets in four horse fields

  • Trigger: We better focus like Calhoun said on doing the homework, as of now we couldn't pick a show winner in a 4 horse race.  Then we'll take down a score.
  • Papillon: I don't think they are playing every combo, but they are betting more $ in the carryover races
