FYI,  many people believe that many tracks race less than 1 mile. Rumor has it pocono and the meadowlands are too.

According to USTA specs.
You can google it.
A race track is measured three feet out from the pylons.
IMHO
 That means that todays horses with the offset bikes travel a shorter mile then their predecessors.

A length is based on the size of the lead horse as measured from nose to tail.
Not counting the tail, sulky, or driver.

Not sure what happened, whether it be length or surface, but NFLD times are significantly slower since they closed a week for track maintenance a while back.
