I did see that a case of the equine herpes or something similar popped up earlier this week! I'm pretty sure that it wasn't a standardbred though

Equine Herpes Virus. If it develops into its neuralogic stage it can cause paralysis necessitating euthanasia. very contagious according to my vet neighbor.
