At least now I know where I stand with you and believe me that's very important to me because you probably have the best opinion here.

Herve Filion, who would know, said the race is 90% the horse. Get the best horses, win the races.

This statement from Lauren Tritton on driving here sums up why Down Under drivers are so good

“The racing style here is a lot different compared to home,”
Tritton said. “I’m still getting comfortable. And not comfortable
as in I don’t feel right out there; it’s more of being comfortable
with the way the races are run. Back home I feel there’s a lot
more tactics involved, there’s a lot of bumper cars if you want
to put it that way. We’re allowed to push out, make a lot more
moves. Back home there’s no holes, you don’t give holes
at all.
What also is quite different is that we don’t drive
to the tote board, where here it’s kind of post positions
and the tote board that dictate where you put a horse.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Pushing out is great if you have the horse who can bully the one on the outside and force him 3 wide

we all gush over statistics --- but what I like about a driver is not only can he produce results -- but when he gets off the bike does he have the knowledge to tell the trainer how to make the horse better....

I had good drivers that could get a certain amount out of my horses.

I had average drivers that could tell me what they see and feel while in race mode to make the horse better.

Just my thoughts

 Very true
IMHO-its what ruins racing in USA. The same drivers in every race-and most have preconceived ideas before the gate opens and look at the tote board to determine their tactics like Lauren says.-leading to Indian File racing with few moves.
After watching real racing from France-and Down Under---its infinitely more entertaining-and most horses get their chance to win.
Here- the ones designated by drivers before the gate even opens and dragged to the back of the field--even if it was actually capable to win--it cant because it was positioned to lose.
This hurts racing as a spectacle-and gamblers drop off.

Very accurate statement!  Unfortunately the drivers don't look to hurt each other. As an owner I want my horse raced to win.  Wether I'm 1-9 or 99-1 race the horse!!!

As an owner I also expect the best effort everytime it races. But some couldn't care less it's costing the owner money. They just hop on the next horse.

Some of these catch drivers are the biggest assholes you will ever meet.  Arrogant fucksticks don't care about owners or what they have invested.  They just move to the next race.

tmbz1-As an owner also-Im more concerned that certain drivers -when driving a horse that's either not one they normally drive-or from a big stable--they will use that horse to gain favors from other drivers-- so when they get on one of their
"own"-they look for a return of the favor.ie the owner gets screwed but the driver earns a future reward.
When looking at French racing or down under racing-this BS doesn't seem to be happening--it's every man for himself and may the best horse win.

I want a horse when they get back. I don't want them gutted just for shits and grins. If you are 99/1 there is a fucking reason, race accordingly.
