PETA and a home grown group have been outside the gates at Saratoga T-breds for years. Local and national media give them little attention. The economy of Saratoga is so dependent on the race horse community and the social and economic powers it commands.
 At Yonkers and their harness racing, these groups are aligned in many ways. It is the season to jockey for positions of power as the state will be awarding up to 3 full casino licenses in an zone south of Orange county.
 So, it appears these groups have a common goal.

they understand that much of that tax money comes from the casinos and the casinos need some small horse racing representation to be in business and thus generate the tax dollars??
