yeah right
the good ones dont need to be trained, they just stand in the stall and roll out and win
yet you now say maverick is finished and worth $50 k
is that alagna or the horse

would you like to make a bet the horse doesnt earn 50k this year?

They should move him to Melander.  He has all those international cross bred fillies.  Maybe training with them would wake up his testosterone and he'd stud up  ngc3

Hanging around with hot Euro babes would probably do all of us some good   ;D  ;D

Robert Krivelin parked him this morning in a qualifier, when was the last time you saw someone park a huge yearling priced animal in a qualifier?

then Maverick broke

Go. to the Meadowlands web page and watch the replay of race 3

Maverick didn't leave...came 1st over in a slow quarter....Krivel in's horse grabbed on a bit and Maverick went back in the hole.

Going to 3/4 pole Krivelins horse drifted out...Maverick went up the inside...was in no difficulty and trotting clear to be 2nd....when he jumped it off under no pressure

they were not going that fast

Still work to do to get him rigged correctly

Just watched the replay.   Maverick has 2 head poles on.   Clearly he has some issues.    I’m betting we don’t see him till next season.

Nothing will help this horse aside from gelding him which he will not do.  I noticed from the first start that Maverick will not pass horses.  In his second start he got a 2 hole trip and when the driver pulled the right line he had to dive back in twice because the horse came off the bit.   The horse is not a player.  He doesn't like the game.  No way to tell that at a yearling sale.  In my last post on Maverick ( which seems to have vanished ) I predicted that he will start breaking and that is exactly what he did.  It's only a matter of time to figure out the pattern.  There is nothing lame about this horse.  He goes like a monster and looks like a monster but he has no interest in racing.  Just breed him and spare yourself the humiliation.  Bad news is that this kind of attitude ie very heavily inherited but you can geld his kids.  You cannot geld him.   He will resell for about 400gs for breeding,  That's a loss of about 1 million, and it sucks because Maverick is far better gaited and better looking than his brother.

They do lose money by buying overpriced stock most of the time.  But for the ones that buy those kind of horses a cool mil is like a franklin to most of us.  Chump Change.

The horse ownership business is not kind to the 99%
