Patient zero IRA kills Darcy Pletcher!
« on: April 29, 2020, 10:11:15 PM »
This guy IRA brought misery to another harness family.  Bates told us Darcy passed away this morning after taking I'll. Had lots of medical problems.

IRA might infect all the old gang just by getting within 6' of them. If you see him and his Jesus sandals coming near you run in the other direction as fast as you can.

Ira has never killed anyone; he's harmless! If Ira were sick do you think he'd be travelling around interacting with his fellow horsemen? of course not.

Ira's done a lot for IL horsemen over the years and has 50 years of his life invested. I was told by someone who's friendly with him that he's down south (Florida?) and focused on his racing machine business. I assume it's tough nationwide but I was also told many of the company's machines are in use in states that didn't totally shut down. Good for Ira I say.  tmbz1

Sadly I heard multiple horsemen from Illinois passed away due to COVID-19. I won't name all the names but Darcy was 1 name mentioned.
well, it's game over here at Maywood. thanks johnny Johnston for giving us fans the shaft!

This IRA

Is this the same IRA that Ploppers said owned a major share of the Empress Casino ?????
  ngc3 ngc3 ngc3
Ira never owned 1 share. All he did was tell McEnery he ought to buy his way into the gaming license. After he got it Ira was at Bill's heels like a puppy begging for scraps. Every chance he got he reminded Bill who told him to buy. McEnery went from a few million in net worth to hundreds of millions. It killed Ira he had NO stake. Then he told all of us McEnery promised him a "flinders fee" for life. It wasn't on paper and Mac got sick of being extorted by the biggest mooch on planet earth.
Those are the events. Ask Jimmy Curran or any other old timer who was around.

ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3  Ira has done MORE for HIMSELF and langley/johnston than he has done for ANY other horseman.

So this Darcy was a race fixer too...........
1987 Chicago Tribune
Great People look at the other UPSTANDING DRIVERS

''It`s in the hands of the Illinois Racing Board stewards,'' he said.

''Maywood Park is cooperating in every way with the investigation.

''We aren`t trying to sweep it under the carpet. We`re trying to help solve the problem-if there is one.

''And, if there`s no problem, then all of the drivers should have no qualms about taking the polygraph test.''

The drivers and their horses in official order of finish were: Steve Pletcher (Thorn Eagle), Dale Hiteman (Ultra Osborne), Darcy Pletcher (Midnight Eagle), Marc Aubin (Maple Fritz), Randall Jacobs (Little Strikes), Charles Baker (Leah Christina), Brian Pelling (Valunga N.), Dave Magee (Fox Valley Bullet) and Ron Marsh (Battleshoe Profit).

''There isn`t any industry, business or sport where all individuals are above reproach,'' said Johnston. ''It`s our job in the harness industry to eliminate the bad apples.

''We test for alcohol with a Breathalyzer in the paddock. The most efficient way to test for other drugs is a urine test, which other sports are using to eliminate their bad apples. We should have a urine test in harness racing, too.

''We use modern technology to market our sport throughout the state. Why not use that same modern technology to preserve the integrity of the sport?

The lie detector is part of that technology.

''It`s easy for a driver to lie, and a suspect race isn`t like a murder case with a smoking gun. It`s difficult to prove technically and legally because you may go before a judge who doesn`t know anything about racing.

''The most effective way to tell if a person is lying is through a polygraph test.''

I would have LOVED to see langley AND johnston take lie detector tests themselves about honesty and screwing horsemen AND public. ABSOLUTELY NO chance they would pass them.
NONE.
AND a polygraph test is inadmissible in court. But those things never mattered to langley nor johnston. They acted like kings and everyone else were indentured servants.

Darcy was a good guy. He could drive a golf ball. Always around the barn. Yes he did party and party hard. A lot on the backside did. Many bad habits but alway cool and respectful. Shared a barn with him a few years. Good conversations and would loan you equipment or whatever. Everyone has problems but your character is what people that knew you remember. Like Gerry Longo....biggest fuckin asshole on the track every moment I was near him. Jag off trainer and driver and person!!!
