Between 9-10 for me usually. Horses fed everyday in the morning at about 8. I've never understood the thinking that the earlier youre there, the more you must work, or you're lazy if you aren't there at 6. Trainer A brags he was there at 6, all jogged by 10, with 20 horses, so he works harder than trainer B who starts at 9, and is there an hour longer done at 2, putting only 15 away.  No, I'm just not a moron that wants to be done by 11 to go home and nap. Start jogging at 9, I'm well rested, so are the horses, so is the help, no one is grouchy,  lunch after jogging at around 2, feed dinner at 6, like a normal work day, with adjustments made on race days, but if I had a dollar for every time one of these clowns bragged to me "well I was here at 5" I'd be loaded. I always just want to say, congratulations, youre exhausted, you're horses barely slept at night, and you have nothing else to do but nap or sit at the bar all day now lol.

7 isn't horrible but then they need fed at 6. It's not even light here at 6. lol. Plus here, in the winter, it's 10-15 degrees that early before the sun is up. Big difference a little later in the day.

To me its the number of tasks a trainer pays someone else to do is what makes them lazy.  Hard working trainers feed, paddock, and warm up when the number of horses allow it.  I don't care what time my trainer gets to the barn as long as the work gets done.  I prefer the guy I pay to be hands on as much as possible.

The most important time for a trainer to be there is about 3:30 pm when the tubes and needles start flying.
