No one more depressed about Harness Game than Lesstired

I am totally deflated.....

I am totally depressed.

at the sad state of affairs for Harness Racing....

I donot have any answers....

I know they are trying to do the best they can.   I think.

What can be done to bring new players into the game?

How can the sport  play on equal footing with casinos that offer a "new game"

every 5 seconds.....


The public wants glitz....not old stale racing plants from the 40's.


Yonkers needs a facelift...new paddock....

Northville....tor n down....an insult to anyone.

Monticello.....ne eds to be updated.....good track...but grandstand,paaddock

I went to a track called Tioga Downs......Gural opened it....


Before u say what an SOB and asshole Gural is..or isn't .....


just VISIT  Tioga Downs.......


and see for yourself what a modern day racetrack should resemble...


Don't take my word for it....just go....then post your review...


At least the guy is out there swinging in the face of adversity...


and yes.....he would like to make a buck or two for his investment...


just like Stronach, The Rooneys,   etc etc


We need more guys opening State of the Art harness plants that offer:


Casino

Hi end Restaurants

Sports Bar

Decent Concessions

Promotions

Hotel on Premises


Tioga is user friendly......Spa rkling clean....


it is...in the middle of no where.....


They should build a few close to NYC   Chicago...LA..... just like Tioga.

Hey Les'. Why have you not mentioned Joe Faraldo? Have you been cured?

Tioga is pretty nice, they put on a good show. Get a good crowd, but still a low handle. Everyone says they want it to be an honest game. It is as honest as any other business. There are good people involved and there are crooks involved, same as any business or corporation. Its no more honest/dishonest as it was in the 70's and 80's. Just different methods of getting an "advantage" be it legal, questionable or illegal. The decline is due to many circumstances. The casino's dont care about the racing, they would rather it just fade away, and they are doing a good job of accomplishing that. It now is mostly the horsemans association that need to do something while there is still money to work with. Gural at least tries, yes he too has many issues, but at least it is an attempt. It will never be what it was in the 70's and 80's, but it could be a hell of alot better than it is now. But the horseman need to realize that they just cant keep taking all the money and not putting anything back into the game. And it would not be alot of money, a few percent could create some positive marketing.
