my double headers as a teen were Keystone/Liberty Bell
then eventually Freehold/Meadowlands
I miss those days
On New Year’s Eve 1973, I went to Freehold in the afternoon. Don Pierce ( Ron’s father) won the last race. Then I drove down to Brandywine, about 2 hours away, for their evening card. Who won the first there? Don Pierce.
For you New England residents, how many, around Labor Day weekend, did Northampton for the bullring tbreds in the afternoon( half mile track), then up to Hinsdale for the trotters at night. I had more energy then, as it was a 180 mile drive home.
