Disappointing is the word.Does the red Mile care about racing?Even Batavia Downs actually promotes the racing end in their commercials and advertising.
It just shows how little interest there is in harness racing particularly during the week. Pocono Down has good racing for overnight horses but the handle isn't very good. Harness racing was more popular with older people, as they die off, no one is replacing them.
Yes, but the Red Mike did-----not sure if they still do-----get revenue from the HHR machines. They had something like 900 machines, and part of the revenue was to contribute and fund purses, backstretch and front-side improvements, and so on. Originally, this was a partnership between The Red Mile and Keeneland. Not sure of the current status.
