toilet paper price increase coming because of---
« on: Today at 12:20:51 AM »
BREAKING: SH*TTY MOVE! Donald Trump’s idiotic trade war with Canada is threatening to drive up the price of TOILET PAPER for Americans – as they HIT BACK at his tariffs!
For some reason, Donald Trump says it’s time to “teach Canada” a lesson. Americans may end up paying for it every time they go to the bathroom.
Trump’s escalation of his trade war with our northern neighbor could see toilet paper prices DOUBLE since Canada supplies the States with the vast majority of finished paper products AND the raw materials for American firms to need to make them.
Canada’s justified clapback in retaliatory tariffs of up to 50 percent on nearly 900 American products beginning next month – and toilet paper tops the list!
Americans have already been hit once. Procter & Gamble, which makes Charmin, said last year that Trump’s earlier tariffs forced the company to raise prices on paper products by more than a quarter.
Much of the toilet paper sold in the States is manufactured here, but American paper companies rely heavily on Canadian pulp and other raw materials. The United States also imported $328 million worth of finished toilet paper from Canada in 2024, more than from any other country.
One international estimate found that Americans are the biggest toilet paper users in the world, burning through more than 141 rolls per person every year. [If that sounds crazy to you, it does to us too. But the study with the data is behind a paywall, so just go with it, OK? -Ed.]
In light of all this, Trump seems determined to make matters worse, this morning calling Canada “one of the worst countries in the world to deal with ” in a phone interview.
The billionaire Trump insists the US can just do without Canadian products, notwithstanding “a little inconvenience,” righteously declaring: “It’s time to teach Canada. You can’t do this anymore.”
Trump wanted to wipe the floor with Canada. Instead, his trade war could leave Americans wondering what the hell they’re supposed to wipe with.
Where’s that Sears catalog?

In 2026, the Trump administration focused on aggressive executive actions, border enforcement, economic growth, energy production, and foreign interventions, claiming hundreds of policy achievements in its first year.
Domestic Governance and Economic Measures
The administration issued hundreds of executive orders, memoranda, and proclamations, with 30 executive orders recorded in 2026 alone, emphasizing deregulation across energy, finance, and technology sectors to stimulate economic growth and reduce bureaucratic costs

. Key domestic accomplishments include:

Energy production reached record levels, with expanded federal coal leasing and increased oil and gas output, contributing to a 2.5% rise in oil production and a 6.9% drop in oil imports

.
Economic indicators showed modest growth: GDP increased by 1.8%, real weekly earnings of private-sector workers rose 1.4%, and the stock market continued to set new records

.
Federal workforce reductions totaled 277,000 jobs, or 9.2%, while private-sector employment added 654,000 jobs

.
Consumer and household impacts included a decrease of 1.2 million people receiving federal food assistance and slowed price increases according to common measures

.
Immigration and Border Enforcement
The administration implemented strict immigration policies:

Achieved negative net migration for the first time in 50 years and reduced illegal border crossings to their lowest level since the 1970s
T
.
Removed over 2.6 million illegal aliens through deportations and voluntary self-departures, including 400,000 charged or convicted of crimes

.
Cut fentanyl trafficking at the southern border by 56% and ended “catch-and-release” policies, maintaining zero illegal releases for eight consecutive months

.
Paused immigrant visa issuance for nationals of 75 countries and introduced new screening questions for nonimmigrant visa applicants

.
Foreign Policy and International Actions
Trump’s foreign policy in 2026 was marked by assertive unilateral actions:

U.S. forces captured Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro on narcoterrorism charges

.
Imposed sanctions on Cuban officials and declared a national emergency tied to Cuba, enabling tariff measures against nations supplying oil to Havana

.
Brokered peace deals ending multiple conflicts, reflecting a focus on reshaping U.S. influence abroad

.
Law Enforcement and Public Safety
The administration emphasized crime reduction and public safety:

Nationwide homicide rates dropped to record lows, continuing a trend from previous years
The
.
Over 650,000 arrests, detentions, and deportations targeted criminal illegal aliens, including gang members and repeat offenders

.
Regulatory and Policy Reforms
Trump’s administration pursued broad deregulation and policy restructuring:

Expanded FCC initiatives to increase wireless competition and reduce phone costs

.
Rolled back diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies in favor of merit-based standards

.
Implemented rapid executive actions to fulfill campaign mandates, including tariff adjustments and trade pressure to support domestic manufacturing

Rainman, 99% of your posts are about some minor issue with the Administration.  ie toilet paper
Surely you don't mind if I post some positive actions to do with very important issues.

I'm sure P&G, KC and Cascade will be happy to ramp up their domestic production.    Just like they did during when COVID hit.
