Pamela Brown did what good journalists do. She showed up.
While Trump told reporters the deployment hasn't gone on "nearly long enough" and Pete Hegseth insisted that every critical story about the USS Abraham Lincoln was a lie, Brown secured rare access to the aircraft carrier and spent three days aboard it talking to sailors. Not Pentagon spokespeople. Not administration officials. Sailors.
What she found was more human and more damning than any single headline. Sailors dealing with black mold, food so bad that crew members were losing weight, and no idea when they were going home. The ship has been deployed for nearly nine months. Multiple sailors have attempted to jump overboard. And the number one issue crushing morale wasn't the mold or the food. It was the silence. No end date. No clarity. No honesty from the people who sent them there.
One sailor put it plainly in a message to Brown. What started as a two-week combat operation became seven months with a shifting justification every few weeks. First it was to help Iranian protesters. Then to denuclearize Iran. Then to support a blockade. Nobody could tell them why they were still there or when they were coming home, while their families had their lives on hold waiting for them.
Hegseth called coverage of the Lincoln "completely misrepresented." Brown wrote that sentiment "did not go over well" with the sailors she's been talking to. That is as politely as a journalist can call a defense secretary a liar.
Thank you, Pamela Brown, for getting on that ship and letting those sailors be heard.

Do not be duped by the phony BS propaganda from the legacy MSM, “fake news”  slop that is being spread about our brave fighting sailors and marines that have been deployed for 9 months in the Middle East, prosecuting the conflict with Iran and blockading shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.  Our troops are highly trained (the best in the World) and well-equipped to conduct any mission that the CIC and Sec. Def. task them to carry out.  You are merely being fed liberal democrat propaganda designed to muddy up President Trump and Secretary of War Hegseth to instill doubt in the mission, create fear for the families of those deployed, and stir up division in the voting citizenry.  Our troops have performed brilliantly and bravely in their mission to deny Iran the acquisition of nuclear weapons and to keep control of the Strait of Hormuz out of the enemy’s hands.  The media should be praising and thanking our military for keeping us safe and contributing to morale, and not spreading unfounded rumors about suicidal ideation, lack of food, water, and hygiene items.  Our troops are better than that and should be given the praise and respect they deserve.

I do not remember the press denigrating Obama and his military leadership during his prosecution of the Afghan War.  My son, who served with the 173rd Airborne Infantry Brigade as a Sergeant for an 18-month deployment high in the rugged mountains between Pakistan and Afghanistan in the Korengal Valley at a remote outpost ( the KOP).  They were living in a base camp composed of wire baskets (Hesko baskets) filled with rocks that served as their outer walls and makeshift roofing made of corrugated tin and canvas.  The KOP was an outpost that was manned to interdict the ISIS fighters and weapon supplies that were the major route of supply in the valley, being transported from Pakistan into Afghanistan. There was no running water.  There was no such thing as three square meals per day, mostly MRE’s or whatever the troops could prepare and share from care packages sent from home. Showering was a rare luxury when gravity-fed tanks were able to be replenished by helicopter.  Forget about clean laundry; you wore your uniforms, underwear, and socks until they were stiff.  Then you got a change, if lucky, when support was able to be resupplied.  Days were filled with attacks from the enemy with small arms fire, RPGs, and IEDs, a constant adrenaline overload.  Downtime was filled with providing your own entertainment and boredom.  There was no port-of-call or shore leave to provide a break.  Daily life was a contrast between moments of extreme terror and sheer boredom.  During this lengthy deployment, it was punctuated by the loss of comrades through KIA or wounding.  Think of the toll on morale that this would cause.

So, media, don’t tell me that our US Naval forces cannot endure an extended deployment!  Are there hardships during deployments?  Absolutely!  Our troops are resilient and can manage it.  This is what they signed up for and knew going in.  As a former Navy veteran, I know that sailors and airmen eat very well and have more creature comforts available to them than our deployed combat army brethren.  Do not believe the mainstream media and the propaganda they are peddling.  It is designed to help the democrats in the midterm elections.  That is the agenda!
