I've never really followed those mid-western tracks (except Arlington), but i'm saddened to see another track close. The only thing I know about the Carey family is what i've read on LUCPARK's comments and reading the local papers. There have been multiple rumors here in Maine that a new harness track is being talked about. But I don't think it will ever happen. It seems to me that it's easier to close a track down than open one up.

You've only told us about 50 times. The 5/8-mile Ohio circuit is better than Kentucky for overnight horses because you have alot more racing dates. Of course, you probably didn't even know Ohio is a state.

If you think you are just going to ship in and make money in Ohio, it is likely not going to happen.  They don't want outsiders taking their money!

Oak Grove is different!  Short meet, a lot of money and a terrible driving colony.  Add to the fact that there are no cliques, compared to other racetracks and circuits!

It's so funny. When I was growing up and we'd drive out there, we were sacred that the car might break down in a bad area. Now Yonkers, Ardsley, Bronxville have homes only the top 1% of America could afford. LOL!

You race at the red mile for prestige, not money in overnights!

Also to see what horsepower you have over this track, especially if you're not among the elite horses!

When you're racing horses, you need a fair evaluation of what talent they have and go from there.  it's not a participation trophy.
