Mike Mike

I hear this horse was killed in a horse trailer just before lasix last week. From what im told the ohio commission held a hearing and they got the big broom out and swept it under the rug? Is this true? Is it because its Jeff Smith? Name shouldn't fucking matter.. I understand this happens. Does not make it right and dismissable. Complete bull

Lots of rumors of course. But the horse died from afib as a result of “stall training” requested by Jeff Smith. So basically shocked with a device in its stall which is common in the Heather France barn they say. Jeff down as trainer but sent to them for this torture. Might explain her high ranking in trainer stats at SD.

This sounds disturbing.....
What exactly is "stall training"

I heard a groom might have given the horse some kind of injection some time before it died. My source does back up the shock therapy too. I guess the horse was cremated asap because they were so heartbroken the horse died and did not want its body to sit in a stall.

I am reading all the responses from "Plopsters" on here trying to understand if a crime was committed in this incident. Someone please explain the rationale of "shocking" a horse. I had 4 over 35 years ago and never heard of this.

They start yelling like crazy and shock or cattle prod the horse so when he is in the race and hears all the yelling he thinks it’s coming and halls ass for one giant burst.  Has gone on in some barns forever.  Scumbags that don’t give a fuck about horses do this and should be locked up for animal abuse.  So to answer your question, yes, it’s a crime!

Def a crime. And pitiful that people at the Winners Circle Training Center know about what goes on and don’t speak up. It’s simply greed at the horses expense. If the racing commission doesn’t do anything about it then the sheriff or pita or animal control need to be notified. All involved need to go down and never be able to have horses again.

They put a hood on them on the stall.

Yell and hit-em with the prod!

Have you ever notice that certain trainers put hoods on most if not all of their horses? Wonder why? 😁

I never saw it but heard Crissman had a so called "torture chamber" for doing this.
But I never saw it myself and it was hearsay from a ex groom. And that was years ago. So take it for what its worth.

I have never heard of a horse dying or going into a-fib from a cattle prod.

To answer the question asked by someone else "stall training" is when someone electrocutes a horse to put the fear of God into them. Its unfortunately a very common practice all over the horse business.   For everyone thinking this is the whole key behind the France barn you're crazy.  Does it help/work? Yes on most horses but only for a short term or every now and again.  Either way Jeff Smith should have all horses scratched and immediate license revoked. But this is whats wrong with harness racing.

Surely, we aren’t just going to let this go quietly in Ohio?   An attempt to reach an individual at the OSRC went to a voicemail on Thursday as they will return on Tuesday due to the holiday weekend.  A public records request to be applied for regarding findings of an investigation.  A big Scioto Downs pow wow with a big smoke show of people having their stories lined up.  The newly appointed OSRC Executive Director, Holly Chandler to start tenure on July 11th sure has a hot one to deal with out of the chute.   The incestuous relationships here in Ohio are sickening. From permit holders, trainers, drivers, and industry groups. They all sing off the same sheet of music. Someone needs to stand up for what’s right.

Who is it going to be???

Any updates from the Ohio State Racing Commission to their investigation into the death of Mike Mike and the quick disposal of this animal??  I’m sure there is so much cooperation from the enablers of this business. The yellowness and lack of accountability in this business is sickening?  At the end of the day, we have reaped what has been sowed in this business.  A day of reckoning will come! It’s understood it must be outside the current system. Shame shame shame!

The horse has no one standing up for them in all of these jurisdictions. Ohio is the Wild Wild West!
