Joe B in great form

Joe Bongiorno driving right now as good as anyone. He puts horses in position and closes the deal.  He’s definitely taken his game to another level.

He has a nice start to the year driving.  When the regular colony comes back, he won't be getting top choices on any other than his own.  I think that will bring him back down to earth.  I think he is a good driver, just not on the level of the top guys.

If the driving colony at Mohawk all tried like Joe, their handle would be probably double in size.

He gives gamblers a reliable effort.

He trains and owns too.

Burke uses him.

He won the Borgata in 23', here from the #5 at almost 50-1.  Just pushed that horse to the top hard.

On the flip side...

He's whipped horses very hard after efforts have failed and they were out of contention for a check.

Interviewed before a race and seemingly eluded he was not going to try, or bad choice of words.

That race with Nicole.

Controversy with his family - his sister training? - high performances that were controversial (enhancing drugs?).

The verdict is he's talented, highly competitive, reliable, a horseman and driver and owner -  and - might cross the line for an edge, and often uncontrollable frustration and anger at horses who tried and failed.  A very complex person who knows right from wrong yet the history is long and current.
