Wally unretires
« on: March 25, 2026, 07:59:53 AM »
As predicted here, Wally will be returning to action soon at Saratoga, presumably driving for Beckwith stable when the kid is out of town. Wally also drives for McAssey, who has been teaming up with Kyle Swift and having lots of success. Will Wally steal the kid's thunder? Only time will tell.

For a very young driver, I think Kyle Swift shows a decent amount of patience. No haters please, as I think in time he could develop into a top driver, at least on a circuit such as Saratoga or Pocono.

Is Kyle’s grandfather Tom who drove at Buffalo/Batavia in the 70’s and 80’s?

rainman2, remember when we used to watch Wally at Pompano Park? Me, you, Freddy, Johnny Sandals. Great days! Wally. Kevin Wallis, Tom Harmer, Mickey MicNichol, and Bruce Ranger. I used to see Wally at the qualifiers. A nice guy. I hope he does well in his comeback.

I believe Wally is 'jogging' for Paul Kelly down here as he has 1 or 2 in his barn while Mickey is 'jogging' for Mike Deters.

I'll be out at Sunshine Meadows Saturday morning.  Maybe I'll say hello to Mickey if I see him.

A few drivers that are lower on the totem pole at Saratoga were hoping he'd stay retired as they all would go up 1 notch in getting better drives.

Mickey went down with one yesterday. Might not be jogging right away. He is ok and has been released from the hospital

Is Mickey doing some training too?

I remember when Mike Deters was a kid! LOL! Mickey has to be in his mid-70's. It kinda interesting that Wally is "coming back". I mean he's made over 83 million in purse money.  I'd hate to see him get hurt. Always a top talent.

Saratoga is a cash cow for Wally, too lucrative to give up.

I’ve had horses with Mike for over 20 years.
