They should be open by next Wednesday. That's if the next storm misses the area this weekend.

you Delaware folks would know...but I think it has something to do with Ballys running the show

too cheap to properly maintain the track

or suddenly coming up with some equation where its too cold to race

they save money by not racing

just a thought

Dover never makes up their cancelled days either which does save money from the purse account, but I still think the extreme cold weather has alot to do with the cancellations. Parx and The Big A have cancelled thru Friday because of the weather.

The real feel at race time would of been 9° F.

Then factor the wind driving, -11° F.

Seriously what's wrong with y'all.

You're typing from your warm cozy man chair.

Talk about dumb & judgemental.

Whatever the reason, cancel, smart idea for the horse and driver.

Talk about warm weather harness racing, where, exactly!

Ya fucked that up!   ngc3

I remember taking the Starr bus from Wilmington to Georgetown Raceway on a Saturday when it was snowing. There were about 30 people on the bus. It was running late because of the snow so they held up 1st race post time 30 minutes until we got there.

Great story, talk about feeling important, special and that accommodation just for y'all. True!  tmbz1

(Hard to run a scam without the suckers in place, no?  ngc3)

Probably had a couple thousand people there in spite of the snow. Back then all the purses were $500 regardless of the class. They usually ran Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and at least half the horses ran twice a week, some 2 days in a row.

And weather like this was just a average night at Georgetown!

Funny not too cold to go for $500!  tmbz1 But too cold for 5k!

Dover is canceled because they never touched the snow in the barn area . Then the snow melted a bit then froze. Its nothing but ice from the ship in to the paddock . Track is fine.

Snow was followed by an ice storm. Took me an hour to make a normal 15-minute drive. Haven't seen weather like this in a long time.

Plenty cold here in Ohio. Zero or below actually temp overnight. Negative temps[with windchill] when watching this
evening's news. Miami Valley and Nfld are racing right along. Little tougher breed in the mid west I guess. 11.wp
