A long time ago back at Brandywine Raceway, Meadow Blue Chip used to compete against males all the time in the feature race, so did Miss Conna Adios. As for trotters, Fresh Yankee always did well against males. Fresh Yankee was a $900 yearling purchase who won almost 1.3 million back in the 60's which would be the equivalent of over 10 million in 2025 without factoring in inflation.

great memory with Meadow Blue Chip

she raced in the open/invite at Brandywine/Liberty Bell in the 70s when I first started going to the track

there was no Open mares that would fill in those days-so she was forced to face the boys and beat them more often than not

Moni Maker raced until age 7 and her accomplishments were already mentioned on another thread, beating the boys both here and many races in Europe

if we were talking fillies-it would be CR Kay Suzie-who was more than 10 lengths faster than the boys in her 3yo season--you will not see another filly go off 1/9 in The Hambletonian ever again

As I recall CR Kay Suzie made an early break in her Hambo elim and didn't qualify for the finals which was won by Tagliabue and John Campbell for brother Jim.

she made a break on the backstretch and rallied furiously to just get nipped for 5th

CR Kay Suzie was never once out-trotted--all of her losses were when she broke stride

she was a very nervous filly..her making an occasional break came with the territory , she was brilliant

she also wore hopples-which many of her detractors held against her-which still today I do not understand

The Allens allowed a large group of Swedish media take pictures of her all week leading up to Hambletonian Day-causing her nerves to act up- a move he badly regrets

Has to be Moni Maker.
I put CR Kay Suzie alongside Peaceful Way, when the behaved they were brilliant.
I did like the Allen's and they sure had a lot of success but they didn't like to loose and old Carl always had some excuses.
Also, nothing wrong with competing with the boys every now and than.

So Much More was very strong in Open company in Canada for I think as long as a couple of consecutive years.

Despite being T-Bred her name has to make it into a thread with this title...
