Years ago I saw Lou Pena would be having a beer. It was at the Meadowlands. The big bar inside of the track apron. It was before Gural took over. Someone I was with said Lou is a nice guy. He went up to him and talked. Pena offered him a beer. That doesn't change anything. If you are cheating it hurts the other owners, bettors, and ruins the game. Being a nice guy does not excuse juicing. The game is a joke and continues to celebrate the bad actors.

Lou is a nice guy I have no idea the correlation between being a nice person and pre-racing.

You are a sucker if you think someone is a nice guy...who is stealing from you. That is my point.

Why is there even a discussion whether someone who is cheating is directly, indirectly, tangentially, or whatever, stealing from you, or anyone else for that matter. That's the victimless crime BS. It's cheating. It hurts everyone, including the horses.

How can he be a great guy if he uses underhanded tactics in regard to pre-racing horses, you can't have it both ways.

Pacer2 has had a man crush on Bret Beckwith for a long time, in his eyes he's the greatest thing since sliced bread. When you have the nerve to say something negative about him, he thinks you're jealous of the money he makes.

  • dougie: IIB, I think the mayor will sign the bill if it reaches his desk. The optics on this issue is bad for the horse carriage industry. Animal activists are adept to using the media to enlist horror and anger by the public.

  • Ignorance Is Bliss: It's now a bill with city council. Public hearings will be scheduled then the council votes on it. If passed it's sent to the Mayor to sign into law. He has already said he's in. Marte just took over, Bob Holden is the actual author of the bill who retired last year.

  • dougie: IIB, I have been reading some of the work Councilman Marte has been doing on this issue. I think he might be successful with passing the 'Ryders Law" Bill this time around. The image of the horse dead on the street has even been seen here everywhere. If the animal activists can get this on the ballot, who knows how the vote will go.
