It saddens me
« on: July 30, 2025, 10:05:52 PM »
Has anyone seen any TV, radio, or online ads or commercials promoting Hambo 100?
Its small wonder that when i mention it to my friends, most of whom are pretty big sports fans across the board, they look at me as if I were speaking Sanskrit...
By the way, where is the Hambo being broadcast?
USTA should be ashamed at how this day of racing is/isn't being promoted....but thats old news.....

You would think the USTA would promote the heck out of this big day of racing.

I spoke of this on another thread.  They didn’t even break the news on Dexter choosing off the favorite. It still isn’t on their site. They are a worthless organization run by a moron.

We've got a half a dozen running threads, a new one started every day.

No one can argue our commitment to speak for weeks, months about a sub 2 minute trot race, even a sub part like a horse, trainer, driver in it.

That's us though!   tmbz1  ;D

Uncle Jerry.....I do. That's really all we have in Maine. The foods better than the racing, so we go to most of them every year. LOL!

Roosevelt, Yonkers, M1, the Chicago tracks, Liberty Bell were hardly country fairs...
but I do agree that leadership allowed our sport to devolve to the point where the fairs are the most compatible venue and atmosphere

If I weren't deeply involved in harness racing, I would have NO CLUE that there was an "important" trotting race coming up on Saturday.  I'd even wager that some casual harness racing fans are unaware that Sat afternoon is Hambo day.  Maybe I missed the TV ads, internet pop ups and billboards.

Arguably this is a big weekend north and south of the boarder for racing. However, there's hasn't been a mention anywhere in the mainstream media about it. Not sure why the USTA and SC waste money on expensive fair and trade show booths trying to get "new" people to join a dying sport. Recycled useless management will bring the demise of racing everywhere. They keep preaching about the handles well those will all but disappear too with these short fields and horse shortages.

it really is pathetic that in this day of social media there is not a word to be seen on the hambo
unfortunate because the hambo and the oakes look very competitive and i dont see any horse being heavily favored
these are the kind of races you want the t bred guys to bet into while they have 30 minutes between their races
