My point is , if you just won a Grade 1 stake, elevating your value by accomplishment many times, why would you risk all you have accomplished for little if any upside. What does wining an overnight at Tioga do for you? Nothing. What would getting beat in an Tioga overnight do for you? Expose the horse as ordinary.

possibly just keeping him tight for this Sarturday's Cane Pace?

why not get paid a few thousand as opposed to having a qualifier?

I agree with that strategy instead of a qualifier, but the horse looked very average.  Like they wanted to see what he could do on an empty tank and he should’ve gotten beat.  A Meadowlands pace winner should win that class by open lengths in a hand drive

If the horse wins (and he did) people aren’t happy because he won and he got the conditions.  Now he wins by a head and the critics are out. And if he gets beat, the critics hav  Ed even more to complain about. A no win situation whatever the outcome is!!

Maybe….but some love finishing second in that class. As for bettors….the double was plenty good considering his odds starting it off. So, a few may consider it a WIN situation.
