SPA Friday, Day XII, 7/25/25
« on: July 25, 2025, 12:36:34 AM »
I'm on a mini streak, but it's absolute torture that in the 3 for 3 I've won over the last 2 days I have not capitalized nearly as good as I should of.  Shame on me!

The forecast is nice weather at the SPA, however the forecast is 1/3" rain but over 2 hours.  I'm handicapping for a FAST Track, unsure of predicting the Turf condition.

Only one race for me today, again lol, the 6 1/2 furlong Amsterdam G2 Stakes.  Good Luck!

(5:53 pm) 9 -

1 - Winner of non-graded stakes and a G2, took 20 days off last race and then back in training, last wo super and has first time King Irad.  Castellano tossed, must be because of going 108 3/5 in the mud and finishing 6th in his last race.  Big Contender.

2 - Tossing even with the 1 graded stakes placing, 2 wins on lasix and 2 zeros without and both of those were clean starts.  A 4th place contender if that.

3 - Multiple non-graded stakes wins and places, and graded stakes places.  Last worked out at Churchill a week a go, why not ship this horse in earlier and settle in. Horse is 2 races 0-0-1 at the SPA.  Contender.

4 - The 4 took a solid shot to his rib cage in last and was 1/1 on wet coming in, was a respectable effort after getting slammed and in the mud, I think this horse prefers it wet.  Has been working out at the SPA since May.  Lightweight contender.

5 - Davis was listed on this 8 horse yesterday but horse scratched, this is a live horse here.  Go back to Feb 1, beautiful easy race in a non graded sprint with a 99 speed figure at GP same track config as SPA dirt, then....fountain of youth and loses to Sovereignty by  4 1/2, then 2 more graded stakes on the wet that he doesn't like.  Has been working out at the SPA since May.  I think he is ready to explode back on Fast track sprint!  Pletcher, Donegal Racing who has won $15m in 15 years and has had multiple graded stakes winning horses - my solid pick for 1st or 2nd!

6 - 2 wins with lasix, 2 w/o, here w/o, had some excuses when w/o.  Cox, $410k purchase.  Lightweight contender.

7 - Horse last race 4th of July then ends up here with no wo's.  Can race w/o lasix juts not at this caliber.  4th place contender.

8 -  Looked awful in a GP sprint on 3/2 on lasix and had no excuses.  Trains to run with the best but can't. Likes the Spa when wet sort of.  Underestimate Pletcher???  Contender for 4th or so.

Going 177.60 beans here:

my picks have been horrible all meet..so here is one you can toss out

race 9--#6 Gunmetal--faced a much tougher field on a muddy oval in last effort-before that won at KEE in a good race

combine that with the fact I do NOT like the favorite from post #1...Saez can have #6 in good spot turning for home

win bet #6

$336, $487, $395 are the potential payouts.. needed the 1 to hang on in race 2 for double those amounts at least.. I'll still take it though .. makes up for yesterday's losses

Way to go JT!   I was alive with 5 and 7 for the p4. I didnt use the 3 as he was coming off both a voided claim and a vet scratch. I read too much into it. Nice job.

Race 6  p5   7/346/367/12/3

Thank you both, that's a bummer Bello. $263 profit on that one, but that one at Gulfstream was tough to take.. happens all the time. Let's parlay some of the winnings..

Pick 5: 2,5,6,7/ 3,4,5,6/3,4,6/1/4,5,9..$72 donuts

Even with a fail , up $131 for the day. Not bad for betting at work ;D.. I study in the morning and bet on my breaks

I usually don't but I make an exception for the spa and sometimes Finger Lakes and occasionally Horseshoe Indiana.
